From what I understand, the Ruger #3 in .44 Magnum was one of the rarer models since only a few hundred were made. The largest count I've seen is 500. As far as current value goes, based on recent listings, that number can range widely. I have seen some sell for prices I wouldn't pay for a Ruger #1. But like saddlering's comment above, I don't recall seeing a Ruger #3 in .44 magnum. I have an 1885 in .44 magnum so the Ruger's in that caliber aren't ones that I actively look for.

Pops had one way back.
Buddy's dad still has one.

Think the #1 finally offered in .44 mag hurt the #3 sales as far as hunting rigs go. Collectors or ? Have driven up #3 prices though. Hell.folks.want a K for a .22 hornet #3 around here.

Buttplate and stock, and even forend, on a #3 suck. Used
#1 wood is getting ridiculous.

IMHO better to just pony up and pay for a #1 in .44 mag.

But if youre a collector, go for it. I put the #3 with Rem 788s. Had em, dont see what the fuss is about. Spend a little more for better.

A friend has a Ruger #3 in .44 Magnum and a Remington 788 .44 Magnum, I bought the 788 for $500.00 complete with vintage Weaver scope. He has yet to locate the Ruger among the hundreds of guns he owns, when he does I'll buy it too.

I had two R#1 in 45-70. They kicked like an angry mule so they moved on. Due to the
shape and fir of the #3 I would think it would beat you up even worse.
But they are cool. Hanging on to my #1 in 7x57and #3 in 223.

I don't understand why the #3 prices are so close to #1 prices. Seems to me the #3 is as plain as it can be abd the #1 are very nice. But the prices seem to be very close???

I prefer classic.

My old buddy searched through the literally hundreds of rifles that he owns to no avail, then he remembered that he'd sold it a little while ago. I sure wish that he hadn't, but I'm greatfull that he sold me the Remington 788.
