Yeah Ed, I know a local guide, who took 3 Americans, to Lac Seul yesterday.

They caught 136 walleye, smallest was 21", largest 29" !!!!!

It must be the year of the walleye everywhere. One of my other nephews fishes Garrison and reports similar results. Fun times for all. Edk

I just got back from Ontario. I caught over 125 walleye & about 20 pike. Caught my walleye back trolling a 5 of Diamonds with a worm harness. Biggest was 26". a couple 24 & 23, several 22". Caught some pike on top water lures---talk about FUN. Having them boil hitting the jitterbug--missing it & coming back to hit harder. We lost a couple days with weather--no way I'm going out when it's thunder & lighting. Plus there were whitecaps on the lake.

We used Walton's Kay Vee lodge on Nagagami Lake. We flew out of Hornepayne. Really nice lodge, big lake--has 130 miles of shoreline.

I've got a photo of the big walleye. I can text it to someone--if he will post it.

Bob Ive got two friends that just got back from different spots near Flin Flon in Saskatchewan, both raved that the walleye fishing, and average size was better than ever! Sask. is closer to Colorado than Ontario. hint. grin

Can't find the distance anywhere, but thinking it's either 100 or 500 metres !

I was aware of the $10 day per person but if I have to be a 1/4 mile from water (which is tough in Ontario) I will keep my money and go elsewhere. I won't do a dry camp when there is water everywhere.

I gotta admit, them pictures make me envious!

In Alberta, you have to go on a draw to keep walleye on many lakes. I sure miss living in Manitoba for the fishing which is exceptional. The tradeoff is that hunting in Alberta is superior which is one of the reasons I moved here.

I have said it before and I'll say it again Paul, you are definitely living the dream!

Nice on the fish feeds. As Mr. Bee stated the majority of Alberta lakes are on a draw for 2 tags within certain slot sizes. Those that are not on a draw many are still slot size governed and limited to 1 walleye within that slot.

I had A tags for a local lake which allowed me to keep 2 fish over 50 cm (19.5 inches) --- I filled these on out first outing with a 54 and a 61 (21 & 24 inch).

Now to keep another walleye I have to drive to a lake that allows 1 fish within a slot size -- generally that slot is 45 to 50 cm.

Yesterday we went to one of these lakes and caught 10 walleye that were in the 43 cm range and 2 that were 47 cm. So one fish each for dinner and a 4 hour drive. Great day on the water and an excellent dinner.

Like I said, I couldn't find it in the regs, have just seen the signs.

Probably worth a phone call, there is a number listed in the link !

Send a PM to Karl (kkahmann), he's closer (Nipigon) to the area you're talking about ??

Thank you Sir! I owe you one. We have flown out of Nakina for years but we are looking to try something a little different next year. I may make a run up there one week on a scouting trip with just the bare essentials and have a look around.

It looks as though they are going to cut us non-Ontario residents to one walleye a day.

From what I can recall, seeing & hearing, I think that proposal is only for Lake of the Woods, Richard.

But, if it passes there, ...........................

It would truly be a stupid move. US tourism, which is huge in our region, would surely die !
