These are the reasons it is so hard to contemplate leaving this beautiful place. I would rather stay and fight these socialist bastids than give up and leave for parts unknown. The second problem is where do you go that isn't going to be the same way in a few years? Idaho? nope. Montana? nope. Wyoming? hard to say. Colorado? already gone... IMO- best to stay and fight...

Sheister,

I agree with your approach. My great grandparents and grandparents homesteaded in Wallowa County and I don't think very much can run us off. Unless it is to join Idaho.

The effort to move most of the state into Idaho is coming along. Wallowa County has required their commissioners to take it up as a point of business acouple of times a year.

We are in a tough spot with the Democrats in control. They are corrupt and cover for, or give special deals to their brethren. A $ 500, 000.oo donation that was misreported and then had the punishment cut way back is the lates.

I lived in Newport for five years. I loved every minute of it. My wife hated it, so we moved inland a bit. Still one of my favorite places to visit.

If you haven't seen Crater Lake, it's worth the trip. The Hellgate Jet Boat dinner trip is a good time too. Then down to the Redwoods and up the coast (or vice-versa).

Spring and early summer 1972 camping on the middle fork of the Ell river with my first wife. Lived on rainbow trout. Red mountain wine was under $2. a gallon . Still have a bunch of arrowheads I picked up there.

I live in Brookings Oregon on South Oregon coast a few miles from the Cali border. #1 spot on the west coast for being on the ocean/wild non-dammed rivers if thats your thing. And also the one place you can live on the continental west coast and be the farthest away from a metropolitan area. It is 2 hrs on [bleep] roads to get to a larger town n, s or east. I dont mind spreading the word because there is no avail land to lay out sub divisions. You have to wait for someone to die or need to be by a mega hospital to buy a house. Oh and we also have 500,000 ac of public land right behind us. Elk deer n bear. We dont like liberal pukes in this town or bums. I'd post pics but its a pita on the fire.
