I wonder why some folks mention the importance of bullets,"now and again"?!? Hint. To bad the pointy heads don't have an hour meter betwixt their crossed-eyes,to denote how many times a day and the duration(s) of same,in which they think about me. Hint. First shot was 30-ish yards and of course broadside. I simply shoot, until schit is DEAD. Hint. Electronic HURT Feeler Reports Filed HereFhuqking LAUGHING!................ That's how I do it too! I shoot until it's dead. Of course, for me, that's one shot! I've never used 165's in a 30 mag, but have used them in the 30/40 Krag and 308. The 165 Sierra hollow point features a crappy BC but is a very effective game bullet, inside of 200 yards, when started at 2650 or so. I shot a bear at 30 yards, with the 30/40, and this bullet. The bear was falling before the recoil took him out to the field of view. Field of view was substantial with the 2 1/2 power scope. I load 165 Noslers in my .30 Epps. They start out at about 2850. Haven't shot anything but deer with them, but I expect they'll do just fine on whatever. GD

I was brought into the hunting fold driving deer and bear. They'd come charging through the standers adrenaline pumping. They wouldn't just tip over at the first shot. Hence the Amish assault rifle

I had a factory Winchester push feed M70 in 300 Weatherby Magnum for a year or two. Scoped and loaded it was pretty light and had the thin red recoil pad. Effective it was but I sure shot it as little as possible. Would not build one or buy another.

I have built 300 magnums of various persuasions, which weighed in the neighborhood of 7 1/2 pounds, all up. This is a manageable weight to carry and to shoot. The owners liked them. My own is heavier (close to 9 pounds) , and I'll confess, it's not that nice to carry anymore. My favorite 30 mag is the 308 Norma. The nearly identical 30 Newton, another favorite, would be just fine if brass was more readily available. Both are standard length cartridges which push 180's over 3000 or 200's to 2950. This suits me. As far as the high BC bullets are concerned, I don't care. I shoot game at 300 and under, regardless of what rifle I'm carrying. I've never shot any animal eight times, so it seems to be working for me. GD Exactly where Id like to be completed package. Roughly 7.5 lbs scoped.
