I came across a stock set for a model 99F that has pressed checkering, not the double diamond, sling swivels, pistol grip cap and a metal curved butt plate with phillip head screws. I'm thinking off of a .284 Win? Could it have come from other chamberings as well....maybe .308? I'm thinking possibly 1964?

Does the forearm have the slot for the barrel boss? .284 wouldn't have that, all others would.

Yes it does have that.....never even thought about that. It has nasty tang cracks that extend almost clear to the wrist.

So yeah.. it'd be off of a 243/300/308/358. It would date to 1965 to mid-1970'ish. From late 1970 on there was no barrel boss either.
