If you’re going to rob someone around here, it’s probably not a good idea to pick a guy with a buzz cut. The off duty cop turned and killed him with his weapon. Don’t know specifics on firearm type, cartridge, or number of shots.
Happy ending.

In Amarillo, TX, a man tried to break into the back door of a residence.
Female homeowner fired one shot.
Male burglar found nonresponsive inside said residence! 🤔?

It's better to seek Jesus on your own than to be sent to stand before him. The outcome is better seeking and excepting him.

A sworn police officer or deputy sheriff is a law enforcement officer 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, whether on duty or off duty.
And, since not in the military, is also a civilian. I know, I know, like generic facial tissue being called "Kleenex", we now refer to non-law enforcement people as "civilians" to distinguish them from law enforcement. It has become acceptable to us now and I'm probably the lone ranger anymore. Maybe it comes from my decades in the military. I guess we have accepted ebonics too. Sorry for the thread drift and I apologize for the rant on an "unimportant" topic.

No, you're not alone. This business of LE personnel referring to non-LE personnel as "civilians" seemed to take route in the late '70's or early '80's and maybe it's not an important topic. Some feel it is a deliberate attempt to create a cultural alienation among LE personnel toward the rest of us so they'll be less likely to object to using questionable means to enforce laws of questionable constitutionality on what they've been conditioned to view as the "inferior" segment of society. They are officers of the civil courts, not the military. That makes them civilians.

Can I refer to citizens as citizens or does that also offend boomers?

Who's offended and by what?

Citizens as opposed to non-citizens? Why would that offend anyone?

Not sure I see your point.

I don't know, he seems to think that, because we make an observation about a particular social or cultural behavior we don't agree with, that we're somehow offended by it. I'm not sure if it's simply a misunderstanding of the definition and concept of taking offense or an assumption that everyone gets all fired up and "offended" when they disagree with something. You do see a lot of that here.

It shouldn't matter if he is on or off duty since MS. is a right to carry state.
