Great story. I am in the same mode too, rescuing "old" hunting rifles (winchesters).

I have 3 featherweights
One I use every deer season.
2- that have never been shot, or out of the safe.
New 264westerner, never been out of the safe.
My dad bought em all, and just didnt shoot em.
Had a new 300 win, that I didnt want to shoot. let the market decide.
It went pretty high.
I do love em.

You have good taste in rifles LeeC. I think a lot of us here really love the fwt model.

...Since the rifle in question is only an hour away, I drove down to Katy and stopped in at Bass Pro to have a first- hand look at the rifle. Except for wear at the muzzle, the o/a metal is very good. The stock is what it is...dead. The weight of the rifle seemed to be on the "heavy side" for a Featherweight, maybe weight in the butt ??. IMO, the price is a bit much, even with the scope. And, NO they would not haggle.

Nice gun. No doubt you're going to have to change that buttstock.

The problem is they've probably a lot of people looking at it due to chirping on the internet about it. Fuggers.
