I have a C-Head composting toilet at my cabin. minimal odors, easy to use and doesn't take up much space. urine side uses plastic gallon jugs or one can run a tube outside. solid waste is mixed into a bunch of peat or sawdust - must turn the handle after using. Dump solids out before you leave or after a week or so. There are several other brands of composting toilets out there that work well, some require minimal power.
that being said I also have an outhouse. I would just as soon go outside and get done with business
good luck on your solution

I'm hoping to find a chunk, so I don't have to buy a piece for our Lobo cabin. I have some of the pink panther 1.5 & 2" if you need it.

A distant outhouse may convince the gals to stay home. Mine had me build this one for her many years ago.

It's all good until there's a bear in the basement.

Sawdust composting toiliet works good for odor containment. You have a luggable loo sawdust toilet set up inside for really bad nights.
I'd leave the foam seat out there instead of carrying it out everytime Lord knows if the mexican special splatter gets on the bottom side.
I've thought of these things many times up in the northern MN climate. Sawdust toliet works great for dodging lakeshore rules at my cabin.
Other than that, How was the show Mrs. Lincoln?

... I've used a plastic garbage pail with a plastic garbage bag inside as a temporary measure during bad weather and at night ... just tie the bag up after you're done doing your thing and dispose of it in the morning ... no odour ... no container to clean out

I grew up in a house in WI without running water or toilet, just an outhouse. We kept a "thunder mug" in the house for my sister's. I would take it out in the morning and dump it.
When I lived in a tent for three years I kept a five gallon bucket with a toilet seat on it .
In my hunting rig(van I live in while hunting) I have a hassock toilet with sealable bags that I can drop in the dumpster and not have to go out in the cold at night.
For warmth in the outhouse we kept a lantern, just set it on the floor between your feet and lean over it.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.
Make mine a Minaska
