Once you had the new 4010 JD everything else was obsolete.

not a farm but we had an Allis Chalmers G model.

I think my pushmower had more power. The thing reminded me of a dinosaur skeleton.

But you could put out one helluva garden with one.

Wish I had some pictures of the old man on it.

I remember seeing a picture of one competing in the slow-tractror "race" at the Nebraska tests.

Whatever tractor I was on at the time!
From Ford 8N @ 7YO to D9 @ 12 YO.

We did a lot of cattle, a little farming (hay), and Dad was a civil engineer - highway dept, roads, dams, storm sewers, etc.

The only time I was happier, was on a horse! laugh

For sure it was Dad's old Ford 9N. First tractor I learned to drive.
I remember when Dad basically took it apart to replace the clutch. I was able to add some colorful new words to my vocabulary. grin

Dad had an old non running Oliver in the lot beside the house. I spent many hours playing on it. He also raced 32 Fords with flatheads. He was known far and wide for his agility to tune them. He held the track record for the fastest lap time at the local track for many years. We had a variety of engines and non running vehicles around. I can also remember rocking in those old 32 Ford fenders. He always had a fast car ( wish I had the 49’ Mercury and the 34’ business coupe back). Was known to run a little likker out of Booga Den in his wilder younger days. Mississippi was “dry” back in those days and the sheriff had to be paid off if you made likker or ran a beer joint that served likker back in the day.

Did you have your sense of smell surgically deactivated?

It wasn't bad at all. The worst of it was when we were pelting in the fall and that was over quickly.

First tractor I bought was a Farmall 656 with desperate need of an overhaul. Sold it about 5 years later and really missed it. I was at an auction a couple of weeks ago to look at an International 684 but passed on it as it had too many red flags. Down the row was a 656 so I hung around just to hear the sound of the engine. I didn’t realize how much I love the sound of that engine. Am now looking for a good, reasonably priced 656 with 3 point.

Until you climbed on an 1100 Massey.

To give credit where credit is due, we had a 4010 with the 7th gear reverse, it was a hay loading SOB for it's time.

My 1850. It' is not my favorite tractor as a kid but I have owned it for about 15 years now. I used to start it up every weekend and take it around the farm but I have an ATV for that now. It's a '66.

My grandparents had a Super88 Oliver. Sold before I had a chance to mess anything up...
