There are some very decent and worthwhile women on the US team that deserve better than to be painted with the Rapinoe brush. Alex Morgan is one of them.
In this tournament the team showed mediocre coaching/strategy, including very questionable use of available talent. For many situations there were some better players on the bench. A team's realization of this can strongly affect the attitudes and reactions of players and that has been reflected in weakened/unfocused play by a strong team.
Never have I felt that Rapinoe's abilities/performance lived up to the hype.
Soccer has been a great game for me throughout life and I still much enjoy spectating. We all have our likes and dislikes when it comes to types of sports. Some like to express their dislikes in derogatory terms. If it could happen on a logical basis without the slurs and rancor, it could be interesting to discuss the actual aspects and merits/demerits of the sport.
