A friend told me that NY is implementing background checks (for a fee) on ammunition purchases starting Sept 15, 2023. Is this true? any details or links?

That's what I hear. 9.00 fee each time you buy ammo. The dumbphucks in Albany sure are good at driving business out of State. Fuuckin idiot Demorat communists. Everybody I know is going to Pa. for ammo. The gun shops and tobacco shops all along the border are very thankful. Their parking lots are always full of NY plates.

If I understand the article I read correctly, it's supposed to be $2.50 for ammo purchases and $9.00 for firearms purchases. These are background checks through the NYS police. Also, if I understand correctly, the firearms background checks are still with the FBI, but go through the NYS police (so the NYS police can keep track of who is buying what firearms. There can be no other reason to do it that way.) There is nothing in place yet and, given past history, this thing is likely to fizzle for lack of funding to establish a system.)
When we left NY, I gave up a lot. I had more places to fish and hunt than I could ever use. We had a beautiful home, friends and family all around.... I am so glad we got the hell out of there.

Everything really is better and cheaper in the free states.

I was ready to go a few years ago, my wife is reluctant to get too far from her elderly parents. The time is coming to make our escape.
