Why keep your mouth shut and let people think you are an idiot when you can open your mouth and prove it.

Mine is positional, when I'm sleeping on my back.

Truth..and not to be negative but clipping an oxygen monitor onto your finger for a night is not a good one

I'm not fat or overweight by any means. Some people have obscured airways and the epiglottis covers over the larynx and causes apnea. Why be an asshòle for no reason?

I lost a bunch of weight and take one singular pill a day and my sleep apnea stopped. Don't use my machine anymore. Wife said when she wakes up at night I don't stop breathing or breathe funny anymore.

A guy from my office is an ultramarathon guy - long and lean and I can’t imagine he’s more than 165 lbs - utilizes a cpap.

Not true. The worst sleep apnea I had was when I was very lean and in incredible conditioning. Fatties are more prone to sleep apnea but some folks have more obstructed airways without being fat. There's young children with sleep apnea

I have OSA and went through a DISE procedure to see if the blockage could be fixed. The Doc said the recovery isn’t easy and he couldn’t guarantee that I would be off the machine so I scrapped the idea.

One of the best effects of using the machine is that I sleep straight through the night without having to pee multiple times.
And I drink water up until I go to sleep.

Been on a machine since 2008, knew it was a problem for years
before but......? Woke up every night about 45 minutes in, sitting in the edge of the bed choking. Afraid to go back to sleep.
Finally told the Doc.

What Sauer posted is a good lesson.
Pee calls are my idiot light.
If I'm up 2 or more times, there is a problem.
Mask cushion is shot, filter needs changed......

I try to schedule replacements, but forget.
Pee calls tell me something needs addressed.

Untreated sleep apnea is the #1 cause of going into a-fib.

A-fib is a huge cause of embolic strokes.

I'd want a real sleep study, not a pulse ox at home, but that's just me.

And, FWIW, I've seen a lot of fit, skinny people with sleep apnea. Granted, I've seen more fat people with it, but it damn sure isn't as "fat people only" condition.

I did the at home study about 6 years ago. My sleep apnea was/is pretty bad at 87 events per hour and blood/ox as low as 59. Been sleeping with the damn mask ever since.

Next month I go in for tori removal surgery, which should help make much more room for my tongue and hopefully will help lessen the apnea issues.

Overweight is at higher risk; but definitely not just those who are overweight.

Has anyone tried one of the following?

In general. (Insert smart ass comment about having sleep apnea while awake here)

But that's not really true, it's the #1 non surgical cause. Percentage wise, you're super likely to have some a-fib after a CABG.

Cabbage is pretty self explanatory. You were warned against straying from the carnivore diet! 🫤

Edited to add: Fast now, while you still can!

I started using a CPAP machine at 40 years old. Never slept better in my life and I am not over weight at all and in good cardiovascular shape.
I'm going in to get a consultation for surgery next week. I hate wearing the mask and the inconvenience of carting the thing everywhere I go.
