After walking your nackers off and your cold, hungry and tired, pop the lid, stick ot on the stove, salt the dog pizz out of it and slam it. Lots of good stuff in there. I prefer the add hot water freeze dried stuff, but hey, when your hungry and just want to crawl in the sack, can beat it. Oh, don't forget the saltines and a beer. I call them cool water sandwiches lol. That sh it is loaded with salt already.

I was always a fan of the Campbell chunky beef stew. I usually take several cans of Campbells on every hunting trip. They have some good flavors. 1 can is about right for me along with some crackers.

I sauté mushrooms & onions & dump them in the stew it's heating. Add Huy Fong Siracha to desired heat. Spoon onto a bed of white rice. Tried the dish for years with Red Hot, Tabasco, etc. just wasn't right. The Huy Fong changed the game.

If you're tasting Dinty Moore Beef Stew and thinking it needs more salt, your taste buds are likely blasted from routinely over salting your food.

DMBS has always made me sick to my stomach. Requires an Alka-Seltzer chaser.

I was on a deer hunting trip ~17 years ago. We were camping. We had cans of beef stew and cans of chili. For variety, we blended the two together.

We used to make chili corn. One can of chili + one can of whole kernel corn. Talk about exercise the pipes.

Hell, even before I discovered the secret of starting with a whole chuck roast and cutting out all the gristle before cutting the best part into stew cubes, my beef stew was at least fifty times better than Dinty Moore.

I wouldn't call it quality food but it will fill your stomach. The problem for me is it has way too much salt in it. If the salt wasn't a health issue for me, I'd scarf it down more often.
I do like the DM chicken and dumplings. I toss a can of sweet peas in with it and it is good eating.
I should look into making and canning stew.
