I just got this 39a, 1957 vintage per serial. Trigger pull is way over 6-7 lbs maybe more. I struggled today shooting squirrels in a barrel.

What do I need to change/modify to get to 3 or 4 lbs like my 336’s.

A lighter trigger spring like a Wolffe reduced power spring or a J&P spring will do the trick. I think I remember reading a while back in the Rimfirecentral Forum something about your question as several weighed in on it with experience.

Good Luck,

I have three 39's,an older 1947 that's got a slick probably between 1 and 2 lb trigger,a mountie with a decent 3 to 4 lb and my favorite one looks wise has a horrendous heavy trigger, let us know what you end up doing to get it down, I might do the same with mine.
