I’ve gone that route before and might do that. I’m still unsure of what scope is going to live on the rifle.

That ADL looks like it just came out of the box. That and the 6ppc are nice rifles.

Early Model 7 in 6mm and two 788's in 7mm-08 and 308 are the closest thing I have to a 700. Not a thing against them, just never the right one at the right price. You all have some nice ones!

My .17 Rem is a coyote splat'n SOB.
Other than replacing the wood stock with a McMillan Edge it is all original with a round count that most here swear would burn a bbl out, let alone at 4000+ FPS, and I'll bet I have only cleaned it 10 or so times. It still throws a 1/2" 5 shot group at 100 yds. I wouldn't doubt it has 3000+ rounds through it, but I really can't say for sure. All but a hundred or so at live critters of some sort.

Put a 6x32 Leupold on it at the same time I replaced the stock but truth be told, that cheap ass Nikon Buckmasters 3-9x40 was the only variable scope I ever had that never gave me any trouble.

You've lived a good life if you can wear a barrel out hunting. smile
I think that's about the only time I've ever seen a picture of three badgers.

Awesome! How do you like that 6x36 aboard your varmint rifle?

It is fine but admittedly I haven’t ran it through the ringer so I can’t attest to its durability.

I don’t shoot that rifle much these days because AK law requires ground squirrels to be utilized (meat or hide), as well as coyotes and fox (hide) along with most every other varmint other than porcupines and a few other oddball critters. Before I got transferred up here I could shoot varmints all summer and winter without dealing with those kinds of laws.

Thanks. I’ve run those scopes for miles and miles on end with no issue mechanically.

Those are crazy laws. Thankfully I don’t have to deal with that where I’m at. Most everything, including wolves, are free game with a few exceptions year round. And it’s up to you what you do with it.

Good to know Tinman! I've got two .17s and shoot at least one of them quite a bit. I have not found the old fouling tale to be an issue, have in many occasions shot 100+ rounds without cleaning and no decrement in performance. I'm finally getting to the age where I won't live long enough to wear out their barrels so they are getting more use.
As for you 6x36 scope on the little flat shooting rifle. Back when I was pretty serious about calling coyotes the favorite rifle was a sporter weight .22-250 with a straight 6X on it. Point and shoot out to ludicrous distance. Same could be said for the .17 Rem
As always, your posts contain some good info.

What's going on with the ring-caps on that one? I suspect they're not all scuffed/scratched, your stuff is too nice.
