So I have two pre in 375 H&H. One is a standard built in the early 50'S, the other is a transitional supergrade that I believe was restored. The second has been discussed here. I picked up a 66 double leaf sight that should belong on either. However, in looking at the standard it has two filler screws, and it does not appear there was ever a rear sight on it. This is the one I picked the sight up for, but, if its never been there do I add it? Now the supergrade is wearing a correct peep, and I have read that there were some that were not drilled for rear sights, but, if you catch it in the right light, it almost appears the sight holes were filled. Whether it was done during a restoration or if it was done at the factory I dont know, but I would suspect the former. I guess the question I have is, if I use the sight, what do you think? Guess I can always sell it.

Some transitional 375s were I drilled for barrel-mounted rear sights and instead were factory equipped with peep sights.

The Winchester factory box from mine is so marked and there is no D&T for open iron rear sight. I like the arrangement as it also has a G&H detachable side scope mount. Works very well for me. Prefer this arrangement than a barrel-mounted RS. YMMV

Thanks Wildwater. Ya, I just don't know if i should put it on my early 50s standard since it doesn't really look like there was one mounted. The SG has no loses, but they could be added. I dunno, maybe I should just leave them both alone.
