on my second .17 hornet barrel (went Lilja barrel) on my CZ, and this barrel's sweet spot is with 20 gr. v-max at 12.4 g of 1680 over CCI400, which is top of the suggested safe zone in my Hornady manual. Last (original) barrel liked 12 g. of 1680 with same bullet and primer. With a suppressor screwed on it's a hoot to shoot on prairie dogs.
Laws aren't preventative measures. In other words, more laws won't prevent gun crime from happening.

any of the 20 gr plastic tips and CFE BLK.......Hodgdon has data onsite I just bought an Anschutz 1771 in 17H. Tried one load, 12.5 grains CFE BLK, 20 V max, and CCI SR primer. It shoots 1/2”-5/8” five shot groups, at 100 yards. I’ll try other loads, but this one isn’t to shabby.

If you listen to John, he will tell you how much of his prairie dog shooting has turned to the 17 Hornet and that load…

Shrap, have you tried small pistol primers with that load?

Hornady 20 gr. V-Max ,11.5 gr. CFE BLK , used Hornady case , Rem. sm. primer , Ruger 77 -S.S. - Laminate wood , might shoot even better if this rifle was heavier , but its a fun little rifle too shoot and will work well next year Prairie dog shooting ! this was another easy rifle to shoot decent groups with . this winter i probably will glass bed and float barrel.
