Being in a blind, where sound bounces instead of dissipates, seems like even more of a reason for a can.
I also think the days of chasing velocity are somewhat over, due to decent LRF units and the current trend of letting a slippery bullet do the work for retained impact velocity. There are still instances where a stretched-string trajectory is really helpful, but a lot of folks have grown to like a sleek bullet launched at a moderate speed with moderate recoil. Some good trade-offs there for some applications.
Now with even more aplomb

Have a CA Ridgeline FFT .308, 20" barrel with a TB Ultra-7 suppressor which is not overly long to me. Velocity is 2800+ with 155 gr Scenar-L ammo. Just got back from New Mexico hunting from 7000 to 8500 ft did not notice the 7 1/2 lb rifle on my shoulder. Accuracy is good and it was nice not using ear pro while hunting.

The days of chasing velocity appear to be over. Shorter barrels with cans has made a believer out of me. Johnny, What are they doing that your prior rifles weren't?

Probably the same thing, just quietly and with less recoil.
