4 out of 5 Americans live in urban areas, especially back east. And that's what you get, golf, the pro sports, barbecue lunches in a stadium parking lot, lattes, 4 bars on the cellphone, paper pushers, office workers, factory workers, going to the mall, it's a way of life, with hardly any time or gas money to get away from the teeming cities to do outdoor stuff. We got all our normal garden canning done for the yr. Last couple Saturdays been pressure canning chicken, a beef round roast, carrots, potatoes, more carrots tomorrow, then regular canning of applesauce is planned the end of this week.
Does that count as outdoor stuff or am I relegated to indoor woman status?

We're supposed to get snow down here in the next couple days too, so I'll put a couple sets of snow tires on tomorrow and do one last run through the garden to pick what's not going to like it.
Up here the ranchers still have their cattle way up on top on the grazing leases so while the cattle will be okay, it does make the fall gather complicated for sure.
I've got a couple of the local ranchers numbers on my cell so I can let them know when we bump into the stragglers. The younger bulls seem to be particularly prone to wandering off on their own and getting stuck in some box canyon.
Every few winters they'll be running bales to one with a snow machine all winter - the great outdoors as you say.
