From the rec-cabin stairs landing, she can monitor 2 floors, both exit doors, the kitchen and the living room. Just in case someone is trying to get away with something, like walks, eating, feeding, or needs couch-company.

cute picture. Interesting joinery.
They say everything happens for a reason. For me that reason is usually because I've made some bad decisions that I need to pay for.

I have one lab that has the same problem, the other lab goes up and down open stairs no problem.

The whole place is "interesting". We bought it as a shell, started 20 years before, and had to finish the vapor barrier, even. Ain't nothin' square, true, level, plumb, and damned little code - why should I change it now? The original stairs were 2x6 at a 60-70 degree angle. Accident waiting to happen, so I had to get "almost to code" inventive. But it is workable...Still have rails to install. Had it been built with a 2 foot in both directions footprint, things would have been a lot simpler. The guy that started it was an idiot - I hope he was a better dentist. There was another previous owner too, who did some, but not much. Of course, that doesn't say much for the current owners buying it, either, does it? It was a "good deal", tho. When we sell it eventually, we will at least break even, probably make a little. There's one born every minute..... It's for snow machining and ATV trail riding. Much of what we have done since was with "free" stuff- leftovers from other projects and salvaged stuff. Put the last mudding on the last of the sheet-rocking this past weekend and outside trimmed the windows we replaced earlier . Judging from the empty beer and liquor containers I picked up when the snow melted after we purchased in January 3 years ago, and the ones inside the 1st floor shed, plus several cases of frozen beer, I reckon it was more "recreation", than cabin all those years. But it is a rec-cabin, not subject to "any of the above". I refer to it as the Tom Boddett cabin- the Motel 6 ad guy from Homer? ( "We'll leave the light on." ). In one of his books he says "Dressing for success in Alaska means warm and dry." Close enough! Last weekend- snow was melted off this past weekend, but the ground is finally getting frozen up, so the next snow should stick.

Dangit, Las, that guard needs a doggy mattress there. I was thinking that... I'm sure she was also. Trip hazard tho. I don't bounce well anymore.

It looks like the core of a lot of outdoor fun.
