HUGE WIN – Mike Johnson Becomes Speaker of the House
October 25, 2023 | Sundance | 568 Comments
Louisiana Republican Mike Johnson won the vote and has become Speaker of the House of Representatives. This is a huge shift in momentum for the MAGA base, for common sense pragmatic voters, and for the overall direction of our national body politic.

Rep. Mike Johnson is the new House Speaker—and that’s a good thing
By Andrea Widburg

What just happened is incredibly important in terms of symbolizing a shift in power in the Republican party. As I noted at the top of this post, we’ve been witnessing the public face of a long-simmering civil war between genuine conservatives and those whom I call Vichy Republicans. The latter may, at the individual level, have a few hot-button conservative issues (i.e.., abortion, guns, taxes,) but they otherwise align with Democrats on huge numbers of issues (i.e., taxes, abortion, open borders, anti-white racism, Ukraine, Trump, January 6, election fraud, etc.).

With Johnson, the conservatives won. That is, the House at the very top aligns with conservatives in America who, for the most part, oppose abortion, support the Second Amendment, want lower taxes, demand a sovereign border, believe in a color-blind society, hate funding Ukraine, support Trump, believe that January 6 was a set-up, and look askance at 2020’s election results, etc. This is a step in the right direction.

Matt Gaetz took a dangerous, even careless, gamble and won. I’m delighted with the outcome, but I would suggest that, the next time a Republican decides to dethrone the king, he have a plan in place for what comes next.

one more....

Johnson’s election as Speaker of the House has caused quite a stir in Washington D.C., notably among those K Street lobbyists. His solid conservative stance and alignment with Trump’s policies have created a sense of unease among those who oppose these ideologies. This reaction clearly indicates the significant impact Johnson’s election is expected to have on the political landscape.

Johnson has a notable voting record against all Ukraine spending after the initial bill. He supports ending American military aid to Ukraine in its war with Russia. This stance has earned him an F rating from “Republicans for Ukraine.”

In terms of the 2020 election, Johnson was among 147 Republicans who voted to overturn the election results, a clear objection to certifying them, and declaring it as an election fraud.

Johnson has also shown his willingness to challenge the political establishment. For instance, he called for the arrest of Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House at the time, after she tore up the State of the Union.

Rep. Mike Johnson’s unyielding support for Trump, his grassroots funding, and the ripple effects of his election as Speaker of the House underscores his significant role in current American politics. His actions and policies have shown that he is a staunch conservative, committed to upholding the principles in which he believes.

Indeed, Representative Mike Johnson is a figure who embodies the principles of the America First and MAGA ideologies. His conservative voting record, legal defense of Trump, objection to carte blanche checks for Ukraine, and willingness to challenge the political establishment make him a prominent figure in the push to “take back our House.”

I think Johnson will be better than McCarthy, although we will have to wait and see what he is able to accomplish. But none of this would have happened without Matt Gaetz. The House just voted down the top 3 people from leadership and elected a MAGA Speaker. That's a big change.

Mike Johnson thinks George Floyd was murdered LOL

New House speaker Mike Johnson has a black son and says white people have racial privilege.

The first thing he did upon being elected speaker was put forward a bill supporting his "dear friend" Israel.

Johnson is considered a far right MAGA republican and was only elected as speaker because Jews need Biden's $106 billion aid package to go through ASAP. -MP

Gary’s was interviewed by Steve Brannon and from that I get that the main reason was a junior congressman from NY asked for a voice vote on the second in line, Johnson. There were about 40 rinos that were voting against all nominees for McCarthy. He was sabotaging the votes. They couldn’t afford to vote against Johnson on a voice vote.

He’s no RINO. He’s a man of principle. Believes what he says, says what he believes.

Yeah, he’s different in a good way.

Something doesn’t add up.

In all seriousness, I think McCarthy was caught doing everything he could to screw with the process in the hopes of regaining the seat himself. Once he was exposed the Republicans who had to be getting tired of the circus, and realizing they were politically damaging themselves (they all have to run again in 2024) were thrown a lifeline named Mike Johnson. There wasnt enough time to mount much opposition to him and they voted for someone to be done with it. I think he will be great.

They were afraid of the Optics of not getting someone into the speaker position quickly.

Maybe, but then why didn't they just elect one of their own, like Emmer.

Don't blame me. I voted for Trump.

He's in favor of sending more hundreds of billions of dollars to foreign countries while America is coming apart at the seams.

Ya reckon God is in control?

He has a clean slate, is a nice guy, quite humble. And super smart, a constitutional scholar. He was the default candidate and they were getting pressure to fill the seat.

A twist in fate that no one would have predicted.

Things get turned around one step at a time.

I certainly hope you are correct. It maybe baby steps but hopefully it is steps in the right direction.

I work in a large manufacturing facility with all manner of people and a large majority of them are disgusted with how the country is going. Big change from a couple of years ago.
We’ll see I guess……

based upon the degree of outrage frim the uniparty.... maybe

listen to Matt Gaetz's play by play on Breitbart.

this isn't a bad start though...

"Johnson listed seven core principles that have undergirded the American experiment in liberty: individual freedom, limited government, the rule of law, peace through strength, fiscal responsibility, free markets and human dignity."

seems like common sense.

Newly sworn-in House Speaker Mike Johnson laid out what he sees as the seven core principles of not just American conservatism, but American greatness.

In an approximately 19-minute speech delivered after receiving the speaker’s gavel on Wednesday, Johnson said, “We stand at a very dangerous time. I’m stating the obvious. We all know that. The world is in turmoil. But a strong America is good for the entire world.”

“We are the beacon of freedom, and we must preserve this grand experiment in self-governance,” the Louisiana Republican continued.

“We’re only 247 years into this grand experiment, and we don’t know how long it will last, but we do know that the Founders told us to take good care of it,” Johnson said.

The speaker went on to argue the central creed of America is found in the Declaration of Independence: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal,” and that they’re endowed with the inalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Speaker Johnson Lays Out His 7 Core Principles of American Conservatism Inspired by Reagan

“That is the creed that has animated our nation since its founding, that has made us the great nation that we are,” Johnson said. “We’re in a time of extraordinary crisis right now, and the world needs us to be strong. They need us to remember our creed and our admonition.”

The House leader pointed to the late President Ronald Reagan’s farewell address in January 1989, during which Reagan acknowledged that people had nicknamed him “The Great Communicator.”

“I never thought it was my style or the words I used that made a difference — it was the content,” Reagan said

"I wasn’t a great communicator, but I communicated great things, and they didn’t spring full bloom from my brow; they came from the heart of a great nation — from our experience, our wisdom, and our belief in the principles that have guided us for two centuries,” he added.

“They called it the Reagan revolution. Well, I’ll accept that, but for me it always seemed more like the great rediscovery, a rediscovery of our values and our common sense,” Reagan said.

Johnson listed seven core principles that have undergirded the American experiment in liberty: individual freedom, limited government, the rule of law, peace through strength, fiscal responsibility, free markets and human dignity.

Speaker Mike Johnson, who is a significant upgrade from Speaker Kevin McCarthy, sits down for an extensive discussion on current political events where Sean Hannity can tell Johnson his role and responsibility as Speaker.
