I'm starting a loading project for my brother's Henry lever gun. I've planned on using H110, but today, I was reviewing load data and found some very high velocity loads using Alliant 300-MP. I was in a store Friday and happened to note they had the 300-MP powder in stock.

The Hornady manual and Alliant online powder guide both have data for this powder. If any of you have tried it, please share your results. Alliants data linked below to show the velocity this powder is supposed to be getting.

I tried that powder in several different cartridges but settled on only using it in the 22 Hornet. I didn't see any advantage over H110 or W296, but I don't load merely for speed. I place accuracy first.

I have loaded the 158 grain XTP recently for .357 handguns with both Tightgroup and AA#9. Both give a good compromise between speed and accuracy.
