Explains some of Savages rational for this pistol price point.

The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Pricing (MSRP) will start at $1,350 for the all-black Melonite and all-stainless models; $1,425 for the two-tone models; and $1,500 for the rail guns. How did Savage arrive at these price points? Some of it had to with factoring in costs to source certain high-quality components from suppliers. In the effort to situate its position for making premium products, Savage targeted the price-point for similarly equipped models offered by brands such as Ruger and Smith & Wesson.

Looks like a quality gun, but Savage has made its beans in the economy section for many years now. I wish them success, but I expect they’ll have trouble selling these at that price. I’m not saying they aren’t worth it. I don’t know. I’m just saying perception is a powerful force to overcome. To me, this is akin to Kia introducing a $100k sports car. A difficult sale, no matter the quality.

They did start with the Savage Stance pistols, but they went deluxe 1911 really quick. Considering they dropped their AR line of rifles at about the same time (presumably due to low sales), I didn't think it was a wise move.

If they'd done an entry level and more deluxe model, that'd have made more sense to me. But it's their company.

Interesting, I did not know Savage dropped the AR15 line of rifles. They were all the rage for awhile. I see used ones every now and then for around $800
