I've managed to, against all odds, kill stuff with both Vortex and Leupold.

In the same season. 😲

How come only Leupold guys are surprised and overjoyed when their scope succeeds in performing its basic task and purpose in life? How come no overjoyed Nightforce, Maven, SWFA owners post up that their scope managed to hold zero and dial for elevation?

Just sayin... And I point this out as someone who still has a couple Leupolds on some of my rifles.

Not surprised at all, just expect it to work.. Some guys expect problems.
Been using Leupold for 35 years now in Wyoming, no issues and yes it gets beat up pretty well all over the mountains.

Price wise, I guess you don't look at price tags on those NF, Swaro, Kahles or others?
Are Leupolds perfect , no but neither is any other scope.

I have a friend that uses Zeiss scopes and he's sent two back for repair this year. My old clunky Leupolds just keep working.

My buddy's zeiss 85mm spotter's focus mechanism malfunctioned so he sent it to them for warranty work. They speedily got it back to him 7 months later. No thank you.

I have dozens of Leupold scopes, all variables. Bought my first one in 1974, and numerous since. One failed, a handgun scope on a 357 maximum TC Contender. It was repaired free in about a month. Like some others, I don’t dial. I also have a handful of Zeiss Conquest variables and have had zero issues with them.

Apparently... After hopping between several different high end PRS rigs at the Brazos PRS Expo two weeks ago, the eye box of Leupolds alone was enough to turn me off of considering them on any newer builds. They classic Vari-X III 3.5-10 AO is still one of my favorites for a set and forget classic blued rifled but I'm starting to sell even those off.

After 40 Leupolds (since 1985) and 20 Nikons (later on), two Leupolds and one Nikon were sent back.
5% problem rate with both.
Both companies were prompt in warranty work, free of charge, or replaced the scope with a newer and better model in the case of Nikon.
Now that Nikon rifle scopes are no more, my Leupold collection continues to grow,
and I have had no more failures.

I have branched out into Vortex lately.
Before that I was on a Sightron kick for about a dozen.
Bought a few of the cheap Zeiss scopes.
I do not have 20 each of those and have not had any failures with those.

One Night force SHV 3-10X42mm has been OK.
My one monster S&B 4-16x50mm with 34mm tube is truly a phat azz.
I would be embarrassed to be seen out with it except on a man-portable 50 BMG,
or something crew-served on a wheeled carriage.
Gimme a Leupold choice anytime and I will make do.

Another tough thing to report

Set steel at 400, 500, 750, 975, 1550, and 1830

Used my.243 WSSM shooting the 105 A-Max and a VX-3 6.5-20 LR 40mm

Haven’t checked zero for a year.

Dialed and made first round impacts on every target to 1550

Shot a 3 shot group at 1550 8”

Cold bore shot with the Mashburn at 1830 was just off by wind to the left. Made 2 hits afterward

Killed a prairie dog at 730 with the WSSM

😁

I have a combination of Leupold "Rifle & Pistol", Burris "Pistol", Weaver Classic Extreme, and SWFA Super Sniper Fixed Power Scopes. I do Dial. I have only had one "30 year old" Burris fail on a Contender Pistol, and it was promptly replaced with a new scope. I may be lucky, but I have had very good luck with all brands listed above.
