Rattled this guy in this morning . He saw me and spun, made it a couple steps. One more and he was gone. Barely got him before he made it out of sight. Rifle was everyone's favorite 99F 358 that's been powdercoated and stocks painted. Perfect wet weather gun. 180 gr Barnes ttsx thru the top of the heart. Went through the far shoulder and kept going. I was the designated caller for a buddy and his wife but they posted up looking uphill and this guy came in from the creek bottom behind us. Great blacktail. 22" wide. Hung him in a tree and went the rest of the day without rattling in another buck.

The look of the gun surprised me, but I really like it. Very nice deer. You’ve had a good hunting season already.
The gun is a running joke around here. I have to remind everyone that this was a rusty rifle with a shortened stock and a sewer pipe bore. I got lucky and it still shoots great though. The powder coat makes it warm and soft to carry in cold weather. Very nice feeling featherweight rifle. I once elk hunted with this rifle in a massive storm that dumped 17" of rain in a five gallon bucket I had sitting out in two days.
