anybody have any experience with the new mauser 18? i found one in 300 win mag fora good price and want to give it a whirl. figured id ask here first

There have been multiple discussions on the M12 & M18 here and I think everyone is pretty pleased with their's. I don't think you can go wrong with one.

This. LOP on Mausers are some of the longest out there. If I remember correctly, you can only cut about 1/2" off the original stocks.

That sounds correct, re: the half inch. Someone -- Shawn maybe? -- had a thread about the process of shortening it. I had an M12 when they were on super sale from SM but the fit just couldn't work.

I hate compact stocks. Sounds like it’ll work well for me

awhile back Academy Sports had Mauser 18s on clearance in my area. They had synthetics stocks, dont remember the calibers they had though.

It's about as far from compact as you can find stateside. Were they 14" or even 14.25? It was doable in a t-shirt, but with layers and heavy coat on, I just couldn't make it work. (I typically like 13.5" LOP.)
