This song came on the radio today, and the first lines hit me.

Released November, 1972.
I was 3, that month.
My whole life I pictured that "...old, grey, black, gentleman" as OLD.
and in 1972, 65 was pretty dang old.
How old were you in 1972?
When you heard the song, did you picture him as really old?
Do you think of 65 as. "An old grey....." person now.

Shortly ???? after he recorded that song??, I heard Hall perform locally. This had to be after 1980, when we moved here. Probably about 85-90, and the song was fresh on the radio, for the last year or so - locally anyway.

Nov '72, I was 6 1/2 & had 2 younger brothers.
Never heard the song before.
@ 6 1/2, I saw my grand parents as old.
They were probably early 50ish !

54, the youngest of 3.
We are lucky to have Mom and our Step Dad yet.
At 10, Mom was old! (41)
By 20 not so much.
Now that she is 84, wrinkled hands, bad (replacement) knees.....
(Step)Dad is 79. Nothing like the strong man who raised me.....
I don't wanna think of them as old.
