I've been loading nickel plated shot for years, and it did ok. The recovered shot seldom had feather draw, but the shot was always mangled. Not even close to being round.

Last year I switched from the np shot from Ballistic Products, to the np shot from Precision Reloading. According to PR, the shot starts out as 6% antimony/hard lead shot, before plating.....and, I believe it!

The shot I recovered was nearly perfectly round (didn't find many, as most of the shot went through the birds), looking more like recovered steel shot, than lead. It would even roll across the counter!

I swear I can tell the difference on the birds, on impact.

I finally found what I've wanted in a field load. I shoot a few roosters and alot of chukar and huns, every year. All wild birds, and work too hard for these, not to hammer them.

BTW, on the patterning board, both loads did well. But, on birds, the difference is obvious.

I'm a big fan of PR buy all my zinc plated waterfowl steel from them as well as hulls & wads. .Great company to deal with and if you have questions about recipes or components ask for Trent ...

Years ago before the lead shot ban circa 1978 e shot a bunch of ducks with Nicole 5s
