With all of my handloading stuff in storage until I buy my next house, the ebd of deer season finds me running low on loaded rounds for my .260.

With an eye towards harvesting brass to load, what is available in a decent factory deer hunting load. Most of what I see available online is the Horny 130 ELD-M or the emington cor-lokt 140

Been using a 120 Ballistic Tip over Varget for a couple of years, and it's a great hunting load

I have other rifle and load options, but everyone in the family likes to use this rifle

The ELD-M is a target bullet.

The eldm kills the holy hell out of animals. Don't listen to stevie, he's never done a thing in life except bi tch (and fantasize about dogs).

I'd go with the eldm loading, if you're OK with reloading hornady brass.

I would use the ELD-M and not worry at all.

127 gr Barnes TTSX or LRX would also be good in a 260.

I shoot the Barnes 120gr TTSX loaded ammo. Been saving the brass to load my own duplicate load when the time comes.

Gibsons sporting goods, Weatherford TX has the Horny 130 eld-m for ~$31.95 or so per box.

5 boxes, tax and shipping sets me back $171 or so

Just ordered them. Online page indicated 40 units available

How many rounds do you need? I only have 9 rounds loaded for my rifle so that means I can only shoot 9 deer this year.

Since Saturday morning this rifle has been used by 2 people to take 3 deer and 2 coyotes. This one gets used more than about anything else in the lock-up...
And I used my 25-06

And I actually have 8 rounds left loaded with the ballistic tips. 6 with the 129 inter-lock.
Never bothered me a bit to have ammo on hand

Most of my 260 Handloads are stamped 308 Winchester on the bottom...

I get plenty 308 range pick up brass at the range.. it necks down just fine.. and is an endless no cost supply for me..

you don't have anyone who will reload it for you? maybe with alittle money changing hands?

I can't even think about 31.00 a box, or $1.50 each time ya pull the trigger...

Each round I shoot, costs me over 50 cents a trigger pull, but probably way under 75 cents..

If I am shooting at 2500 fps, and using Blue Dot, then under 50 cents a round...especially with Hornady bullets, bought and saved from when they were way cheaper.... and the same with Large rifle primers... bought when the price was $15 to $18 a brick....

Stocked up well under Trump...
