Might as well get the Creedmoor
At any normal deer hunting range the .260 would work as well. I had a 6.5 Creedmoor in a Savage 16 Weather Warrior for a while. It was accurate enough but would not feed smoothly. I sold it to a girl at our church and got new price. My daughter-in-law was talking about getting a Creedmoor and I advised her to get .260 Rem. or a .243W since I am set up to load for those two and I traded off the Creedmoor dies and brass. Seems like anything on the .308 case is accurate and feeds smoothly.

Patriotism (and religion) is the last refuge of a scoundrel.
