Finally got out for a couple days.

Got about 20 miles in over 2 days and a few thousand feet of elevation climbed. I am betting most of it was in 1 drainage that a friend knocked down a couple elk in.

Fun times. Tons of work. Ended up being about a 20 hour day, but good memories were made and I have a yearling to bone out now.

I'd walk a mile for a Camel, but not 20 for a heifer.....

First day was more deer hunting. Elk are in that area, but they just pass through occasionally.

Second day was over in elk country. Saw probably over 300 elk, maybe a lot more.

I can understand guys like you that don't have any interest in hunting elk. But I love experiencing it with my son and friends. Nothing else like it in the lower 48.

We left the ranch at 5 and were back to that ranch hanging elk at 1 am the next morning. 20 hour day and i enjoyed it immensely. I am not an ultrafit packer/hunter like some on here. But better shape than most. So it was still a real chore. But to experience the country and the wildlife and friendship on a hunt like this is like nothing else.

Sounds like a fun trip, one of these days I’m gonna go out west and do me some elk hunting. If I kill one that will be. A bonus, but just the adventures and scenery will be enough. It’s some kind of pretty out there by the pics I’ve seen my whole life.
