What an absolute dick. Never thought much of him since.
I have a friend who was/is a first call sax player in the PNW. When RC would come to town this buddy of mine would get the call. He said RC was very difficult. Well, those aren't the words he used exactly...
It's been said Mr. Zappa was rather picky about professionalism in the folks who worked for him too.
Honestly, an artists work is frequently better appreciated the less we know about their personal character. Still, doesn't surprise me re Zappa and professionalism. Some very difficult charts in his repertoire.

Stories/interviews I've come across mention not only the musical aspect but showing up to rehearsals and such on time and not under the influence............
maybe because of the complexity of what he was composing?
The desert is a true treasure for him who seeks refuge from men and the evil of men. In it is contentment In it is death and all you seek (Quoted from "The Bleeding of the Stone" Ibrahim Al-Koni)

Neil Young can kiss my southern ass.
Or in the immortal words of Ronnie Van Zant, :
“Well, I hope Neil Young will remember, A southern man don’t need him around, anyhow”
Only people that listened to Pink Floyd when I was growing up were dubassed stoners.

There's a good reason Vinnie Colaiuta played good stretches with Zappa, Jeff Beck, Sting, etc
