Mickey Coleman, one of the best friends I ever had, passed 9 years ago today. A true Southern gentleman who could build a helluva rifle.
I still miss him.

Hopefully he didn't die to young, and lived a great life. Be thankful he doesn't have to deal with the crap this world has turned into. Sorry for your loss

Yes he was a fine person, helped me and gave me a book to offer me help in a project. Wish I had been able to meet or at least have a custom made by him. He was good people.

I was thinking the other day about how the Campfire has changed and how I miss posters like Mickey. I thought of Mickey specifically. I never meet the man and only knew him through his posts. He was a fine Southern gentleman and I got the idea that he had and lived his morals and values. His word was his bond. We need more in the world like him in leadership positions. I grew up with the likes of men like Mickey, maybe a little less refined. They were and are the backbone of what made this country great. The young men and the politicians of today make me sick. There is no civility and political correctness abounds. Where is truth? We get a steady dose of lies and propaganda from media today. People think they can say or do anything with impunity from a few keystrokes of a device. No justice in the world. My rant for the day. I’m old school and proud of it.

Was a lurker for a long time before I joined.
Watched Mickey, read what others said. While he was alive!
Read references about him in other places.
Always thought "I want a rifle built by that Gentleman".
And then he passed away.
Never saw him, talked to him, don't think we communicated here.
Some people, you can just tell. From 800 miles, he was a Good Man.
Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!

I wish I could've known him. I thought well of him reading his posts on here and other forums. I know he had some winning rifles and a good following in the shooting community. We are diminished.

Mickey was a great guy, he was the kinda guy you wanted to have as family or live next to.
He was also a Dogs dream Master.

Hig, I think the same thing, when I see a humming bird! Man loved his dogs too. I see how low the fires become in the last 9 years. A Shame.

I never got to meet Mickey, but a good friend here on the Fire, hillbillybear, knew him pretty well. Mickey built two rifles for him. hillbillybear always expressed what a great guy Mickey was. hillbillybear is gone now too. The world is a lesser place, for sure. I miss that ol boy.

A fine contributor to this site. Passed about the time I wanted to have some work done.
Time does fly. Started on Shooters and came to this site back in 2001.

I still miss him. Me too. I put up hummingbird feeders because of him

I still miss him. As so I... I helped him out on a M70 once and he was effusively grateful.. A true gentleman indeed..

it's hard for me to process 9 years without Mickey. I can close my eyes and hear him (and those dogs) out on the swings on the porch. Just shooting the breeze and swinging.

Never had the pleasure of meeting Mickey. Read most every post of his after joining this site. Valued his words and do miss them. It is hard to believe he has been gone for 9 years.
