Days get short and cold. I have been putting off casting and reloading because I hate it. The weather has been so decent this fall I haven’t spent much time inside but today decided it has to be done. So I get the wheel weights, Bullet Moulds and hammer handle out and start casting up some bullets, so I can shoot these odd calibers.

Today for the 40-50 Sharps Bottleneck, yesterday 50-100-450…

Don't tell Mike V. youre using wheelweights!

You don't like casting or reloading because you're just too damn fidgety...

My winter projects get done in January thru about March. January 2nd is the official start date for what I call my "dead of winter projects". That's due to January 1st being the last day of late muzzleloader around here. Plenty of reloading gets done in that time frame, along with various gun projects.

I used to do a lot of bullet casting in the winter. Over the years I realized I don't really enjoy it because I'm too fussy and throw too many back in the pot. Anymore, I cast rifle bullets for my Sharps and Ballard in smaller batches. I go through enough cast bullets in handguns that I'd have to spend way more time casting than I have, so tend to buy those bullets.

Where do you think I got the wheelweights?

Waiting on some parts for a 2011 project pistol.

Idle hands are the devils playground or something like that.
