Hope yall have a great year. Has any one got plans for the original wooden shipping boxes used by Savage and Winchester when they sent out 10 rifles in a box at a time to the various hardwares stores . Were the boxes patented ? I've seen them for 1894 Winchesters and 1903 Springfields.

A few years ago a supposed Savage rifle crate was for sale. ebay I think. It appeared modified for other use, but, not sure what an actual crate would look like. I'd imagine some survive somewhere. ?? Maine?

Stopped in Turnbull’s while up in Canandaigua a couple years ago. There was a vintage Marlin wooden crate with a couple lever action guns (may have held 6 or 8 guns originally) in it on the showroom floor. Picture a much larger wooden ammo crate on steroids. Don’t recall if it was a display or for sale.
