Not certain, but I’m thinking it was “Brannigan”. IIRC, in “McQ” he had a 1911 and a 9 mil submachine gun.
It’s been a while since I’ve seen either.
There were seven movies where he was killed on screen. His character in Liberty Valance was already dead. His death was the catalyst for Stewart’s recollection of the story, shown in flashback.
As I said, most of his movies, especially the Westerns, are big favorites of mine. But Stewart, Fonda, and Glenn Ford are big favorites as well.

The wreck of the Red Witch, Reap the Wild winds, The Sands of Iwo Jima. The Cowboys and The Shootist. I'm missing 2. I did not google the answers. I'm just trying to recall.

The Alamo and The Fighting Seabees!
This has been a trivia question on the ‘Fire a couple times!
