Don't know how accurate or complete this is. ?? Savage NRAInteresting read. (Cadet Corps they referred to was a quasi-official boy's training program, not part of the British Army.) The hyperbole of Savage's advertising was pretty enticing!

I thought I recognized some of the material in that link which they credit "to a knowledgeable author" - there actually was more than one author of all that from what I found, the first part is take from a old post by our old friend Larry Root! re-savage-model-19-nra#Post5219792 .. or maybe he copied them? (more likely?).

The late Larry Root claimed to have a large collection of 19s and 23s, including a 23 proto-type in 44-40 that I saw at LaRue's gun shop in Portsmouth, NH, back around 1987/88. It had the magazine latch on the side, like the early Models 40/45.
I don't like to speak ill of the dead, so no comment on the integrity of the late Mr. Root.

The death of locals usually get posted on "pinedaleonline" and at the post office. I didn't see any notice.
