Savage NRA

Interesting read. (Cadet Corps they referred to was a quasi-official boy's training program, not part of the British Army.)

The hyperbole of Savage's advertising was pretty enticing!

I thought I recognized some of the material in that link which they credit "to a knowledgeable author" - there actually was more than one author of all that from what I found, the first part is take from a old post by our old friend Larry Root! re-savage-model-19-nra#Post5219792 .. or maybe he copied them? (more likely?).

The late Larry Root claimed to have a large collection of 19s and 23s, including a 23 proto-type in 44-40 that I saw at LaRue's gun shop in Portsmouth, NH, back around 1987/88. It had the magazine latch on the side, like the early Models 40/45.

I don't like to speak ill of the dead, so no comment on the integrity of the late Mr. Root.

Fosteology posted about Larry's death on 10/19/23 in the Hunter's Campfire forum and your neighbor, Wyodogger, confirmed his death on the same day.

The death of locals usually get posted on "pinedaleonline" and at the post office. I didn't see any notice.
