I’m pretty set on a 223 because I’ve had very good success with the Frontier BTHP ammo not blowing a holes in coyotes and bobcats. I think this is some kind of new Campfire record! Even though the OP clearly stated he is set on a .223 it took 7 whole replies before someone suggested something else! Usually its only one or two replies. Step up your game guys!

Q makes an Acra plate for their rail interface. I like this. How is the accuracy on these?

The ability to mount an ARCA plate to the fore end is really my only requirement. I don’t believe it’s necessary to spend $5000, I’m looking for a high VALUE rifle. No biggie to mount an Arca plate on a "regular" stock.......

Yeah that’s what I did to my previous set up. What rifle is that in your photo? Stainless 700, 18" Krieger 8" twist, in 6x47 Lapua, Manners EH-1, 108 ELD-M's at 3050. Same in 223, except with a factory 9" twist. I've since put that stock on another stainless 700, with an 18" Brux 8" twist in 22-204.

I run a Rem 600 with heavy barrel A VX3 2.5-8 sits on top. The 600 stick is flat enough to put an Arca rail. Just use T nuts to support it. 53grain Vmax is the preferred bullet. I'm going to put a carbon barrel on it to get the weight down though.

This is the 22-204 I re-did....started out as.... Stainless 700, 26" Brux 8" twist Remington Varmint, McMillan Marksman stock, 3-15x50 Nightforce in Seekins rings, NF base. I sent the barrel off a couple 3 years ago to be heavily fluted to cut some weight as built. This fall, I had it cut back to 18". threaded, dropped it in the Manners EH-3, & topped with a Sightron 3-15x42 in Seekins rings, & Leupold rail.

Did you keep the scope? Is the scope for sale? Ha ha......nice try.....it got repurposed on the spiral fluted gun. And to twist the knife a little bit more, it's an IHR......
