Recently picked up a rifle with a scope attached, but someone has the screwdriver slots messed up and I want to replace them with torx head screws. I measured the diameter and thread pitch but Brownell's doesn't seem to carry this size. The specs. are .134" in diameter with a pitch of .60mm. I don't see any name on the rings so I don't know who made them. Do any of you guys know where I can track down four of these screws? Thanks in advance. BCM

Do you have an Ace Hardware anywhere close?
Mine has a ton of specialty screw bins to sort through, and even a box of "gun screws".
Also, check with all your local gunsmiths around. Never met one that didn't have a bunch of screws in a box.

It sounds like the screws you need are M3.5- .6. You should be able to find them at Fastenal, Graingers or MSC.
For what it’s worth, I tend to like dealing with MSC best of the three stated.

I sent you a PM, If you have a screw out, send it to me and I'll try to match it up with the many hundreds I have.

Feral American, yes we have an Ace close by and they have a couple of gunsmith screw boxes and I think I looked at every bolt they had. None available. Don's 99, Never dawned on me about McMaster- Carr & Grainger. Thanks. Hancock 27- Yes I have one out and I'm going to take you up on your generous offer. Will put it in an envelope sometime today. You're a good man to help out a stranger. Thank you very much. BCM

Boxcarman; Morning sir, I trust wherever this finds you, it finds you well other than the ring screw dilemma. Funny that we just went through the very same dance in my shop two days ago with some mystery rings that buddy had. In my stock of strange and odd screws, I have 6-40, 6-48, screws labeled "Weaver Ring Screws", screws labeled "Redfield Ring Screws" and then the "Misc. Metric" screws.... Wouldn't you know it, none of them was exactly correct. We figured it out this time, next time I believe we'll tap the hole in the ring to a screw I actually have. It's almost like the ring manufacturers made their own thread pitch sometimes. Reminds me of a woodworking machine I was repairing that ended up with Whitworth threads and it was only that the machine shop I took it to had an Irish machinist who recognized them. A tip of the hat to the gentleman offering some of his stash too by the way. All the best. Dwayne

It sounds like an M3.5-.6 thread. You should be able to find some at MSC, Graingers, maybe even Fastenal if you have one nearby.

Hancock27, stopped at the post office this afternoon and the screw is on its way. Once again, thank you. cra1948, I believe you're correct on the m3.5 x .6 as being the one we're looking for. kenjs1, you've got that right.

Heck I would have used it as an excuse to go buy another rifle😁
Actually just bid almost 5000.00 on some more toys. Very addicting.😋
