The large loop .30-30 is interesting. Seems like they're focusing on niche stuff, not mainstream. I'd pay extra to skip the skinner sights and the scout mount as well and just have a plain blade front with a flat-topped open rear in a dovetail on the barrel .. kinda like what my old TC Seneca .45 had. I don't like a cluttered gun. I wish they'd stretch the barrels to 22", preferably 24", except on the trapper models. The big loop is fine, I don't like the pistol grip without a big loop, bashes my knuckles.

In the 1894 I sure wish they'd do a .25-20. However, I have a new one in .357 and I'm not real happy with it. You really have to snap the lever open hard to get reliable extraction otherwise it will drop 20% of the empties inside the action tying up the gun. It may break in .. but I may not keep it that long.

For the life of me, I don't understand their decision. A trapper model 30-30??? That's a cartridge that appreciates a little extra barrel. The obvious is a trapper 357 or 44 mag. Rounds that likely start losing velocity in a 20" barrel and rounds that will likely never be used past 100 yards.

Never had a problem with a 30-30 trapper. The velocity I’ve lost over a 20” barrel has been negligible and if you reload, velocity in a 16” will exceed factory ammo in a 20”. All useful additional velocity is realized only at the maximum range anyways. You can always rationalize the need for the extra velocity but a lifetime hunting with a 16” barrel most likely won’t be a consequence. In fairness 357s and 44s benefit less with a 20” as opposed to a 16”
