Third weekend out this year at Reelfoot and finally got on some birds. My trip for last week got cancelled due to the Ice, but this week was great. Our group shot almost 40 birds each day with a ton of activity. Great day to test out some new gear. Saturday it rained all day and so I finally got to test out my new FroggToggs Jacket. Jacket did great minus the hood set up. It is hard to get comfortable with the chin strap on this one. The lower pocket design fill up with water so don't store shells in them. I think Drake jackets have a better set up. My New Avery Flag broke on the first use with the seam coming apart. Saturday I had no gun issues at all in the rain, but Sunday my Versamax would not fire. Very light hammer strikes on the shell. Good thing I brought my Retay in MO as a back up. I feel the VersaMax is a softer shooting shotgun, but the Retay functioned fine and swings better. I just bought the Retay so I used my older Versamax in the rain on Sat, but Sunday shot the Retay most of the day.

Great Jacket, but needs a better design on lower pockets. Water rolls right in them when hunting.

That must have been a great day. Did you tear down the Versa to see what caused the light strikes?

Good hunt. Had a good friend up there during the freeze and they hunted the big river and mashed em up.

My frogg togg rain jacket didn't last for 2 seasons. It was sort of like the material degenerated.

I went with gortex pro from sitka. I actually bought it on the classifieds here. I think I've hunted in it 6 times now and it's one of the best rain jackets I've ever worn. We'll see how it holds up.
