90% of my fly fishing is blue line brook trout or wild rainbow / browns from small higher elevation streams here in WV, VA, TN, and NC. I'm a lightweight rod enthusiast (Sage TXL, TFO Finesse) and I'm contemplating buying a Douglas Upstream 8ft 2wt. I was curious if anyone has this rod, or any Douglas fly rod and would share their opinions with me.

I’m not familiar with the Douglas rods. In fact I’m pretty much a novice beginner to the sport.
I was gifted a Cortland 3wt 7’ combo that kind of gave me the itch. I use it mostly fishing the headwaters of tellico river and citico creek in E TN.

A deeper dive and research led me to coastal creek outfitters rods. The price was right and they are at least hand built in the States. They guy will build them to your specs as far as handles, reel seat and wraps go.
I got a 4wt 9’ medium/fast action rod from him. No more than I know about fly rods it seems like a well balanced and pleasant rod to fish with. I just need to practice at doing my part more consistently!
I’m now looking at a 5wt 9’ to get into some bigger streams and rivers locally.

Good luck

I have cast that model but not fished it, slow but not as slow as my Scott glass. It’s a dry fly rod. I guess it depends on how close in you fish.

I've never fished the Douglas Upstream; however, since you asked about any Douglas Rod I have a Douglas Sky 6 wt that is one of my favorites. I wish I had some more in other weights.
