Canadians never won their independence from Great Britain, so they are still subjects of the crown.

The British Monarch is the Head of State of Great Britain and all of the countries in the British Commonwealth - Canada, Australia, New Zealand and so forth. Not the head of government but Head of State.

I suppose the various Commonwealthers could choose to put whoever they want on their currency, but that's the reason.


The USA left the Commonwealth in 1776, that's why King Charles isn't on our money. You guys might bring that up with him.

This probably isn't going to help, but I think Queen Elizabeth II was pretty cool. So is Princess Kate. The rest of those guys, not so much.
