Sam,
Did you try AutoAnything?
Also, you might want to join some of the Toyota pages on FB. Some real helpful guys there. I have to go out of town for a couple of days, but will check back in and see if you've had any luck on that last switch.

is there any cross reference in Toyota repair threads on other part numbers? I search repair threads way before I get to looking for parts.

to add, I found no joy (yet) on either ebay or Amazon. Both have sites for old Toyota parts. Still looking for that tail gate keyed switch I did a search online for Toyota Switch 84830-89102 and got this DIY fix/retrofit thread that looks promising complete with details and pics (author says the failure mode is some internal plastic that crumbles with age, btw): 1st Gen 4Runner Rear Window Key Switch Repair/Retrofit - IH8MUD.comGood luck and hope this helps.

Have you looked at Partsouq? I get parts for my 80 series Landcruiser sent here (New Zealand) and it typically takes 5-7 days.

Much as we all love our toyota durability and longevity there are annoying issues with parts procurment om things just.like the other posters described. My 95 tacoma needs new visor pivot pts and last year a wiper switch and passenger door pull. All had to come off the internet salvage market. 29 year out truck runs great but stupid chit needing unavailable parts irritates the hell out of me. At 68 I needed a new right knee wore out but I am still here staying in the game 5-6 Dr office visits and surgery this morning. A little ache now but i'm good. 50 - 60k and God damn it it's harder to find a 40 dollar part for my truck..mb

The speedometer quit on my 92. Odometer still works. Supposed to be two electronic components inside the speedo that need replacing. Looked around a good bit and said screw it, who cares.

my brother up in the Detroit area is well connected with car buffs. He is trying to find me that keyed switch on the tailgate. For years I have gotten by with just the console switch, but both working would be nice. My son want's the old 4Runner. He is footing the bill for the parts and repair this time.
RPN, that Partsouq seems promising. Wrote it down for future use. Thanks

My sin has one of these fourrunners, gen 1 with the removable hardtop. Last year I wired him up a switch for the console, wasn't hard. But the switch is now useless. He had the window lowered and baked into a pine tree turning around in the woods. Broke his window. Anybody got one laying around?

Looks like my brother found the needed tailgate switch on eBay. The switch is included in an assembly called the 'license plate light bar'. Thanks for suggesting that source.
