Not a .308 but when I had a Savage 99 in 7-08 I loaded about one grain under max with Varget and Hornady 139 and 154 spire points with no issues.

Thanks Mike. I wish mine was a 7-08... But I'll love what I have. I was hoping to work up to about 2 gains under on the 308. After talking with the outfitter, they think that the 165 grain copper would be better, so I'll see how that works out.
