That was in 2019. Here we are in 2024 and it's still floating around in the courts. He just had another hearing where he wanted to withdraw the guilty plea, saying it was a medical problem. He's afraid that a stack of guilty pleas will send him up for life (that would be a good idea). The judge won't let him out of his plea. But, here we are, 5 years later, with a guilty plea, and he still hasn't been sentenced.
I'm not a lawyer and I don't understand the court system. This just seems absurd to me.

They wouldnt play those games if their respective families had the same skin in the game as the victims.

$300 or more per hour, if one even just opens the folder or file and shuts it again. Easy money. It's how lawyers can bill several hundred hours a week.

It's kinda like Chilkats, only much, much worse. Honest mechanics will bill the Chilkat rate, even if it takes them longer, but they make a little extra money doing so if it takes less time than listed. Lawyers don't do this.

They have their own self interest at heart in cases like this- drag it out and bill the chit out of it.
