But it worked out good for him the other day. The wind was way less than saturday, and the goats moved into a pasture that allowed him a longer poke. 952 yards prone from a bipod, but the wind bit him just a little. Spined her just in front of the hips while trying to slip one behind her shoulder, but it all worked out for him.

Passing up closer shots to spine-shoot an animal in the hips, for a record.

Why long range hunting... isn't.

But that's just me.

Don, Good on you for all the mentorship you gave the young man... you should be very proud to have set up a future hunter with the right attitudes and the right principles. I sure hope he passes on to another on all the things he's learned from you.
You're a good man Don.

cheers,
seafire

Not to throw water on this thread, you long range sniper’s ever heard of fair chase. Is hunting just about the killing? Nearly all major hunting/conservation organizations such as the Boone and Crockett club, are Presently addressing that question. I personally believe the game animal deserves an effort on our part to pursue them in their element such that their senses give an equal chance for escape as we have for success of the harvest.Submitted by a life long hunter, that’s had the privilege of hunting and harvesting some 30 plus species.

That's nice.... If the LR hunting forum isn't your cup of tea, maybe you should just STFU on it, and go where you can feel comfortable and hang out with others of your ilk.

That's a great looking rig, how do you like the AG stock? What barrel length did he go with (I went with a 22" in 7 PRC for my Defiance Ruckus GA Hunter)?
