The Savage logo thread got me to thinking about trademarks.
Here are a few examples. A more exhaustive search will no doubt come up with more.

Notes first usage as 1906
1914 expanded

If you look at the entry at the link, it describes it as:
"Design Searches 020109, 020137, 260301 - American Indians. Heads, portraits or busts of men in profile. Ovals as carriers and single line borders."

Multiple designs - "Americans Indian(s). Head(s), portrait(s) or bust(s)..". Seems like at least 3 different ones.

So the 1914 picture above didn't actually get used until late 1930's, as far as I know. The 1913/1914 trademark design is probably this from the 1914 catalog (used as early as 1907, first showing with trademark in 1909?):

In the 1939 catalog you get:

I've also seen early trademarks with screaming Indian but no rifle, and a trademark with a left facing Indian chief (not screaming).

More recent ones can be found by going to this website - https://tmsearch.uspto.gov/search
-type in Savage Arms in the search box
-click on the arrow after 'Search by all' & select 'owner"
-click on the search magnifying glass icon, there are 38 that come up, but none of the older ones.
- click on individual trademarks to get the details.

I found the older ones several years ago on this site, but all the options have changed and I still can't locate them, if they are even still available.

If one dives down in the 1914 trademark one can find the original document which shows the logo for the trademark. Like what we'd expect to see for 1914.

I don't know trademark law, but it appears these trademarks need to be re-applied for on some basis, 10 years, etc.
Wonder what and where the oldest are. ??
