It works out on 8 ft nothing else. Still, they put the marks on tape measures.

I guess it would be OK if you were building a Section 8 disposable. Or a livestock shelter.

If you are not actively engaging EVERY enemy you encounter... you are allowing another to fight for you... and that is cowardice... plain and simple.

Wabi, I can help you out here. Been a carpenter my whole life 19.2 is a spacing for floor joists. Mobile homes used it along with homes. It’s my favorite spacing. It saves a joist in every 8 feet. The great thing about it is you can work comfortably between the joists. 16 inches on center is hard to work in. 24 on center gives more flex in the subfloor . Tile manufactures recommend 16 on center for less flex, but I’ve had no problems with 19.2. Insulation usually has to be ordered and the bigger companies make it. 19.2 also makes a stronger roof when planning for snow load or approaching maximum spans on your rafters. Cheers, Alan

That diamond has to do with commercial buildings in big cities that use metal studs. Joe Hammer uses 92 5/8" studs on 16" centers. Any old 25' Stanley tape or framing square will bear that out.

Yep if your a fat carpenter or your building mobile homes or Section 8 ghettos it works good. You might even save a couple hundred on the POS house you build.

Stay in your lane. Bite me jerk! The black diamonds which appear every 19 3/16” on metal tape measures are for spacing I-beam “timbers.” Several wood-product manufacturers offer I-beam …

Then why did you state that it was for metal studs in big cities? LOL
This is important stuff, we don’t want Wabi’s structure to fail.

Sure, if you want your floor to be more springy. Not worth it to save one board in 8 feet. Cheap ass builders will say otherwise, that's why their cheap ass builders.
If you do 16" studs and 19" joists, good luck lining everything up. But, framers and builders don't care about the other crews that have to work around their mess.
