Back in October, I was at the LGS, picking up a new Ruger GP100. There was a nice stainless Rossi 1892 44 Mag with a 20 inch barrel. I asked to hold it. Much to my surprise, my eyes could sight with the irons just fine. I thought "Hoop de Do! I can see again!" My eyes had previously gotten so bad, I'd pretty much given up 20 years ago and started putting scopes on all my rifles. Things had started to improve again, but one thing the cancer/chemo did was knock my eyes for a loop; my prescription changed dramatically.

So now its 6 months later, and that Rossi has been gnawing at me. Since that time, I've noticed they've got a version with a 24 inch barrel. I'm thinking of it for whitetail deer. I'm thinking of casting my own.

Anybody out there shot a 24" Rossi '92? What did you think?

Hi Shaman, yes I’ve had 24” Rossi 92 , but in 45 L Colt, absolutely like the way these little levers perform, they do lay perfectly on swing, 92 and 89 models levers are the strongest action, I have peeps on several and like them, Buds Guns has several in blue and SS.

I think I'm going to feed the urge. The voices in my head must be obeyed.

Not Rossi....but 24" Marlin Cowboys

Never liked 'em.......too long and clumbsy for my liking

20" handles & feels best for me

Yrs ago.....bought an unfired 20" 45 Marlin Cowboy..the owner chopped it from 24" to 20"

Gary Reeder in Flagstaff did the very professional work

I went one step further...sent it to Ranger Point Precision in TX

They chopped it to 16".....now probably my fav Marlin 45 Colt

Just picked up an R92 20” stainless 454 Casull a couple days ago. Ain’t had a chance to shoot it yet. My eyes ain’t the best with iron sights any more...probably gonna red dot it. Love the way it looks and it handles slicker’n frog sweat. Don’t let it gnaw at ya...go get ya one! 😎👍

Like Tikkanut I've never had a Rossi but have a Marlin Cowboy 24" barrel in .45 Colt. Unlike Tikkanut I like the 24" barrel. Just swings nice for me. I have a Marlin Cowboy in .45-70 with a 26" barrel. Love that one too, though the vast majority of people absolutely love their short barreled Marlin .45-70s.

If I had my druthers all my rifles would have no less than 22" barrels. That said I have owned 336's and 94's with the standard 20" barrel and really like them, but the 336's I still have are three A's with the 24" barrel and 2/3's magazine.

I keep thinking I need to buy a Rossi 92, probably in .357 or maybe another .45. In a 24" barrel of course. :>)
